Welcome to Ladd Hill Orchards, one of the few producers of certified organic chestnuts. Located in the hills of Oregon’s Willamette Valley, we have been producing pesticide-free, sustainably grown chestnuts for more than 10 years and are now certified by GOCA for organic production.
Our fresh chestnuts are available from October through December and can be roasted over a fire or in the oven, or simply boiled. We also offer peeled, dried chestnuts year-round, which can be reconstituted and used in soups, stews, stuffing or desserts.
Our freshly milled extra-fine chestnut flour is sweet, nutty and gluten-free. Try it in combination with wheat flour in your favorite recipes or substitute it for other nut or corn flours for gluten-free breads and pastries. We have several recipes on our web site to start you cooking. The wild rice and chestnut mix is a delicious and easy accompaniment to meats and poultry. For variety, add chopped dried fruit or candied ginger or use it as a base for your holiday stuffing.
The Chestnut Scone Mix produces delightful, light scones with a slightly nutty flavor. We are now providing 250 g. and 500 g. jars of delicious Italian honey. The honey is a deep amber color and very aromatic. The distinctive flavor adds zest to the scones or drizzled over crepes for dessert.
